NEIL YOUNG

Neil Young was born November 12, 1945 in Toronto, Ontario and is a Canadian American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and activist, and considered as one of the most influential and prolific songwriters of all time.

Beginning his music career as a solo act performing in folk clubs alongside the likes of Joni Mitchell before forming Buffalo Springfield in 1966, Neil Young signed a solo deal with Reprise Records in 1968, releasing his debut album in January 1969 and a string of highly influential albums such as After The Gold Rush, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and the UK Number 1 album Harvest.

While Neil was getting to grips with his solo career, he joined the supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young with ex-Buffalos Stephen Stills, ex-Byrd David Crosby and ex-Hollie Graham Nash as well as forming his own band Crazy Horse. Neil Young has released over 40 studio albums, eight live albums as well as setting up an archive website where fans can track download rare recordings, and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: first in 1995 for his solo work and in 1997 as a member of Buffalo Springfield.

I'm stunned that he only had the one major hit in the UK, but as everyone knows, he is more of an albums artist, with a staggering amount of output (a lot of it good, but not so much that Geffen-era stuff), and the fact that he's had at least one album chart in the album chart every year for the past 20 years is impressive indeed.

Seems to be missing the time when Decade was re-issued in the early 00s and made the top 20....
